Farke: "We made too many mistakes"
"We have to be critical of ourselves after a 4-0 defeat," said Gladbach coach Daniel Farke following yesterday's loss to Mainz.
Gladbach coach Daniel Farke lamented his side's mistakes in Friday's 4-0 defeat at the hands of Mainz.
After starting on the front foot, Gladbach lost grip of the game and ended up suffering a painful defeat.
"We have to be critical of ourselves after a 4-0 defeat. We made too many mistakes today. We dominated the game early on, had a lot of possession and two big chances. Mainz, on the other hand, scored out of nothing," Farke said in a post-match interview.
"We went into second half with high ambitions, but we gave the ball away under no pressure and then Mainz could play one ball in behind and shoot. We didn’t deal with it straight away and so they were able to score from the rebound.
"It became very tough from there, and that’s what it was. Football is a game of errors, and we made too many of them today. We also lacked the desire to press immediately after losing the ball and set the tone with the right body language. Those are the things than can swing a tight game your way. We didn’t show that for much of today’s game."
