Report: Dortmund begin negotiations with Hazard

Reportedly, Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Thorgan Hazard after the winger has decided not to extend his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach. Meanwhile, BVB have reached an agreement with Boca Juniors defender Leonardo Balerdi.
Borussia Dortmund have opened negotiations with Borussia Mönchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard, Bild reports.

Hazard's contract with Gladbach runs out in the summer of 2020, and according to the German tabloid, the Belgium international is set to leave in the summer after he has decided not to put pen to paper on a new deal with 'Die Fohlen'.

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl has ruled out that Hazard will leave this month, but a move in the summer could be possible. Bild estimates that Hazard could be sold for around €42 million.

Hazard recently commented on the rumors linking him with the likes of Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund:

"Borussia Dortmund and Bayern München are two big clubs. Dortmund are playing very well at the moment, and Bayern are trying to get back. If my next step is to play for a big team, then a transfer [to either of those clubs] would be possible," he told RevierSport.

Meanwhile, Bild also reports that Borussia Dortmund are nearing the €15 million signing of Boca Juniors defender Leonardo Balerdi and have sent a representative to Argentina to close the deal.

Apparently, the Bundesliga club have already reached an agreement with the 19-year-old who is expected to sign a five-year deal shortly.

Balerdi will be brought in as a back-up player for Manuel Akanji who could miss the rest of the season because of a groin injury.
