Poulsen casts doubt on Leipzig future

RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen doesn't know yet if his contract will be extended beyond 2024 or he will leave the club.
Yussuf Poulsen has admitted it's uncertain whether he will remain at RB Leipzig beyond 2024, when his current contract expires.

"At the moment I don't know. We haven't talked about an extension or a transfer yet," Poulsen told Sport Bild.

"I don't have any specific career goals. I want to play at the highest level for as long as possible, whether at RB or elsewhere is not important," the Denmark international added.

RB Leipzig's sporting director Max Eberl recently praised Poulsen for his importance in the dressing room. But the 28-year-old insists he's also important because of what he does on the pitch.

"There is no player who only has a contract because he is good for the dressing room," noted Poulsen.

"You have to back it up with your performances. The last few weeks have shown that I still have that level. Nevertheless, the statement is a compliment."

Poulsen has played for Leipzig since 2013.
