Terzic offers cautious congratulations to Haller on Cote d'Ivoire call-up

BVB trainer Edin Terzic might have preferred an extended period of rest for striker Sebastien Haller as the Bundesliga heads into the March international break. Terzic nevertheless congratulated the 28-year-old on his recent call-up to the Cote d'Ivoire national team.
After the highly disappointing Champions' League elimination last Tuesday, and last weekend's 2-2 draw in the league against fierce rivals FC Schalke 04 one problem for title-aspirants Borussia Dortmund remains persistent. As BVB trainer Edin Terzic was apt to point out last week, the squad suffers from the lack of a "go-to" goal-scorer at the center forward position.

As incredible as Ivorian striker Sebastien Haller's comeback from testicular cancer has been this season, the summer signee has still only netted one goal in 12 appearances across all competitions for his new team since returning to the pitch in January. Haller - as evident once again in last week's encounter with Schalke - sometimes looks as if he could use some additional regeneration time.

A return to the Cote d'Ivoire national team during the current international break will bring with it some additional stress. Haller must travel down to West Africa net week, then hop across to the Indian Ocean to face The Comoros in a pair of 2023 AFCON qualifiers. Speaking on the matter at a Friday presser, Terzic first wished to emphasize that the club was very happy for Haller.

"It's still the best story of the year that 'Seb' its back with us and on the pitch every day," Terzic emphasized, "We knew when we signed him that he was a senior international. It makes perfect sense that he was called up."

"We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for him," Terzic continued, "and will continue to try and manage his workload once he returns in the interest of getting him back up to 100 percent again."

Terzic should get the opportunity to give Haller some time off once league play resumes at the end of the month. Injured German lead-striker Youssoufa Moukoko returned to running drills this week and could conceivably be available once again after the break.

Moukoko has netted six league goals for Dortmund this season.
