Naldo defends himself: 'Money was not the reason for my transfer'
Schalke 04 boss Christian Heidel has suggested that Naldo's move to AS Monaco was motivated by money. But the Brazilian veteran insists that's not the case.

Earlier this month, Naldo completed a move from Schalke 04 to AS Monaco. In the wake of the transfer, Schalke 04 sporting director Christian Heidel suggested that money was a driving factor behind the Brazilian veteran's decision to join the Ligue 1 club - but that's not true according to Naldo.
"That statement surprised me a little. Money was not the reason for my transfer," the 36-year-old said in an interview with Kicker.
After being a vital player for Schalke in the 2017/18 season, Naldo fell down the pecking order at the Veltins-Arena during the first half of this season.
And although Naldo was frustrated about his change of role, the Brazilian defender underlines he never created a bad atmosphere in the dressing room.
"I can assure you one thing: I'm not the type of person that creates a bad atmosphere. If I'm not playing, then I'm dissatisfied, of course, but that doesn't automatically mean that I mutate into a stinker," Naldo said and added:
"My nickname in the Schalke team was 'Daddy', and that wasn't for no reason. It had nothing to do with my older age, but rather with my way of dealing with the others which not unjustly can be described as caring."
Naldo has made three appearances for AS Monaco so far.
