Witsel not surprised by his strong performances this season

Axel Witsel says he hasn't been surprised by the level he has been playing at this season.
Axel Witsel has impressed from day one since he joined Borussia Dortmund from Chinese side Tianjin Tianhai - formerly known as Tianjin Quanjian - in the summer.

The central midfielder's instant impact may have come as a surprise to some - but not to Witsel himself.

"It hasn't surprised me, no. I focused a lot on keeping in good shape and maintaining a high level in China," Witsel said in an interview with Kicker and went on:

"I also had very good players teammates and opponents there. That shouldn't be underestimated."

Witsel has made 24 appearances for Dortmund so far, scoring three goals and making one assist.
