Matthäus trusts Dortmund to beat Bayern in the race for the Bundesliga title

Lothar Matthäus believes Borussia Dortmund will win the Bundesliga for the first time since the 2011/12 season.
Borussia Dortmund are in a great position to win the Bundesliga title for the first time since the 2011/12 season.

The BVB are six points clear of Bayern München ahead of the second half of the season, and former German international Lothar Matthäus trusts Lucien Favre and his team to finish the job and clinch the title.

"This week, the most exciting second half of the Bundesliga in seven years will start. The BVB will be the hunted ones while Bayern are the hunter. That is a new role for both teams. The team who can best handle this situation will win the championship," Matthäus wrote in his column for Sky and added:

"I still believe Dortmund will decide the title race in their own favor. But if anyone can catch up with them, then - of course - it's Bayern."

Bayern München have won the Bundesliga six times in a row.
