Injuries cloud Schalke's vital win over Hertha
Ralf Fährmann, Tim Skarke, Cedric Brunner and Moritz Jenz all picked up injuries in Schalke 04's 5-2 victory over Hertha BSC on Friday night.
Schalke 04 picked up a crucial 5-2 win over Hertha BSC on Friday night to move up to 16th place in the Bundesliga table.
It wasn't all joy for the Royal Blues, however, as Ralf Fährmann (muscle), Tim Skarke (ankle), Cedric Brunner (shoulder) and Moritz Jenz (muscle cramp) were forced off during the game.
"There were some changes at the end. The offensive players had to work defensively because Moritz was suffering from cramps. The next days will show if one or the other is fit or not," said Schalke 04 coach Thomas Reis after the game.
As for Fährmann, Reis wasn't optimistic about his chances of playing against Freiburg next Sunday.
"We have to wait and see, but I think it will be very tight on Sunday," the Schalke coach explained.
The Gelsenkirchen side were already without Maya Yoshida, whose muscle injury was announced shortly before the game.
Tom Krauss will definitely miss the Freiburg game, as he is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card.
