Tedesco hits out at Harit for lacking professionalism

Schalke 04 coach Domenico Tedesco has admitted he is frustrated by Amine Harit's lack of professionalism.
Schalke 04 coach Domenico Tedesco has urged Amine Harit to change his mentality and improve his discipline.

The offensive midfielder didn't travel to the club's training camp this month, with the official explanation being that it was deemed best for him to stay in Gelsenkirchen for injury treatment.

However, it has been reported that Harit stayed at home as the club wanted to punish him for a lack of discipline.

On Sunday, Harit wasn't part of Schalke's squad for Bundesliga game against Wolfsburg. After the 2-1 win, Tedesco said the 21-year-old wasn't included in the squad as he still hasn't fully recovered from his injury, but the Schalke coach also urged the Moroccan international to improve his professionalism.

"Amine was injured. But he also has to work massively on his professionalism. He has to show that he has maturity and that he is a professional," Tedesco told Bild and added:

"When Amine is fit, he's an important option. But there is more to it than just talent. He's a great talent, and it's my greatest desire to develop talents. But the player must want it too. If one of the two parties doesn't want it, it will be difficult."

Harit has played 18 games for Schalke this season, scoring once and making three assists.
