Multiple sources: Leverkusen wrap up Grimaldo transfer
Virtually all German media sources are now confirming a report from Fabrizio Romano that Bayer 04 Leverkusen are about to sign Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo on a free.
Germany's red company team have apparently secured one of their primary targets for the left-rail. Benfica wingback has evidently been convinced to join die Werkself on a free transfer. Germany's preeminent footballing publication is confirming a report from Fabrizio Romano that the 27-year-old has passed his Leverkusen medical and will sign a new deal shortly.
Grimaldo - valued at €25 million in the latest transfermarkt listings - constitutes quite the coup for Bayer. Kicker reports that one of former Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt's top performers will receive a deal similar to his contract demands at Benfica; a €6 million annual salary and a €12 million signing bonus.
