Atlético set to offer Lucas Hernandez a new contract amid Bayern interest

Atléico Madrid are set to offer Bayern München target Lucas Hernandez a new contract when the transfer window has closed.
Bayern München have been heavily linked with Atlético Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez for the past month, but the Spanish club are hoping to hold on to the French international, AS reports.

According to the Spanish media outlet, Atlético are planning to offer Lucas Hernandez a new contract after the January transfer window has closed as head coach Diego Simeone believes the 22-year-old could be a key player at the Spanish capital club for years to come.

However, the Atlético bosses don't want to keep Lucas Hernandez if the player himself prefers to join Bayern, so they want the defender to make up his mind and inform them of his decision during February.

The versatile defender's contract with Atlético runs until 2024, but he can leave via a €80 million exit clause if he wants to.

According to AS, Atlético and Bayern have agreed that the player will stay this month. But a move this summer is still in question - it all depends on what Lucas Hernandez wants.
