Augsburg updates: FCA to sell Malone and return Veiga early
Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that FC Augsburg are preparing to shed two players.
Striker Maurice Malone and defensive midfielder Renato Veiga are reportedly on their way out of Germany's Fuggerstadt. Malone recently returned from his third consecutive loan-out. After playing for SV Wehen Wiesbaden and 1. FC Heidenheim on loan, the German-American Augsburg-native recently found success playing for Wolfsberger AC in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that Augsburg are poised to move Malone to Austria permanently. Austrian Bundesliga runners-up SK Sturm Graz have emerged as suitors for the 22-year-old. Kicker writes that negotiations for a sale are in the "final stages". The footballing journal also has news on the future of seldom-used Portuguese loanee Renato Veiga.
Veiga arrived in the Swabian section of Bavaria on an extended 18-month-long-loan this past January. The deadline-day acquisition nevertheless failed to impress FCA trainer Enrico Maaßen in his 13 league appearances during the 2022/23 Bundesliga Rück-runde. Kicker writes that Augsburg and parent club Sporting CP are making arrangements to cancel the loan early.
Veiga presently trains with the U23s while the details are sorted out.
