A sensational transfer involving Germany's new Champions' League representatives is, according to Fabrio Romano at least, actually about to happen. Romano reports that Leonardo Bonucci has opted to join the "Köpenick Project". The 36-year-old will sign a one-year-deal with 1. FC Union Berlin. The contract will include an option for another year.

The Italian footballing legend is, per Romano, set to fly to the German capital today. Sky sports and Romano's Italian colleague Gianluca di Marzio also report this. Di Marzio claims that a transfer fee will not even be due and that the German and Italian clubs will split the defender's salary. Bonucci moves abroad for the first time in his long and storied career.
