Krösche rules out signing free-agent striker
Speaking to Germany's main sporting tabloid, Eintracht Frankfurt personnel boss Markus Krösche indicated that the club would not be looking for an additional striker amid the pool of free-agents still available on the market. In previous statements to the German press, Krösche has expressed regret that - some hours after he and his administrative team opted to loan out Colombian forward Rafael Santos Borré to SV Werder Bremen - PSG forced his office to sell lead-striker Randal Kolo Muani with an oversized offer.
Eintracht were linked with German Bundesliga veteran Anthony Modeste last week, but the 35-year-old ultimately opted to sign with Egyptian outfit Al Ahly yesterday. The most valuable free-agent striker with Bundesliga experience left on the market is 31-year-old Ishak Belfodil. It appears that the SGE has no interest in the former Bremen, Hoffenheim, and Hertha forward or indeed any others who may be signed outside of the transfer window. Krösche noted that some recent promotions - Noel Futkeu and Ignacio "Nacho" Ferri Julia - from the reserves might be able to assist.
"I have total confidence in the team," Krösche told Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid, "Although we couldn't sign a direct replacement for Randal, we have a deep squad, many different types of players who can now step into the breach. There are also a few players from the second team who help fill the gaps. Signing a player without a club is therefore not an option for us."
