Having been drawn against each other for the third consecutive season in the Champions League, RB Leipzig and Manchester City go head-to-head in a group stage match at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday night.

"We know what we're up against on Wednesday. Against a team like Manchester City, you need a bit of luck - and of course a top performance," said RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose at his pre-match press conference.

"Together with the fans, we want to believe in a home win, bring the necessary energy to the pitch and take the opportunity to measure ourselves against this opponent. It will be about scoring goals and preventing goals. We have a new season now and we're doing quite well so far."

Rose was full of praise for Josko Gvardiol, who will be facing his former team for the first time since joining Manchester City in the summer.

"It's no surprise that Josko hasn't had any problems settling in at Manchester City - he's a quality player, a quick learner and very down to earth. He'll do well there. We're looking forward to seeing him again. He's not only a great player, he's a great guy," Rose told reporters.

Providing a squad update, the Leipzig coach revealed that Benjamin Henrichs will miss the game due to a minor muscle injury sustained in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich.

Lukas Klostermann, who replaced Henrichs towards the end of the Bayern game, could start at right-back in his absence.

Dani Olmo and captain Willi Orban remain sidelined, but Timo Werner is back in contention after recovering from a back problem. Kevin Kampl and Yussuf Poulsen are also available after shaking off knocks.

Bernardo Silva is a doubt for the visitors, while long-term absentees Kevin de Bruyne and John Stones are definitely out.
