Bayern München coach Niko Kovac claims he played no part in the club's signing of Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburger SV which was announced on Thursday.
The Bayern coach did, however, express satisfaction with the deal that means Arp will join the Bavarians by 2020 at the latest.
"I had nothing to do with it, and I don't know when the contact was made," Kovac said at a press conference and added:
"He's a very good player. Highly talented players need to be signed as fast as possible, otherwise someone else will do it. That's what happened with Leroy Sané who doesn't play in the Bundesliga anymore."
Bayern paid around €2,5 million to sign the 19-year-old striker, according to Bild.
