Weinzierl could lose his job after disappointing 0-3 defeat

Markus Weinzierl is in danger of losing his job as Stuttgart coach after his side's disappointing 0-3 defeat to Fortuna Düsseldorf on Sunday.
It has only been four months since Markus Weinzierl took over as Stuttgart coach, but his job is said to be hanging by the thread after Sunday's underwhelming 0-3 defeat to Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The defeat means that the Swabian club, who are sitting 16th in the Bundesliga table, have just won one of their last eight games.

"Of course we're disappointed. We didn't engage in the duels with the same intensity as the opponent. We helped to concede the goals. The opponent made us lose our bottle. We're in a difficult situation and aren't exactly bursting with confidence. I'm not interested in my future," Weinzierl said after the defeat, as quoted by Sport.de.

According to Bild and Kicker, Markus Gisdol and Felix Magath are the main candidates to replace Weinzierl. Additionally, Bild mentions Jürgen Klinsmann as an option while Kicker suggests that assistant coach Andreas Hinkel and/or under-19 coach Nico Willig could take over until the end of the season at least.

Kicker considers Gisdol the favourite. The 49-year-old, has been in between jobs since he was sacked by Hamburger SV in January 2018, comes from the region and is said to be ready for the task.
