Mario Götze explains how he has gained Lucien Favre's trust

Mario Götze has talked about his difficult start under Lucien Favre and how he managed to gain the trust of the Borussia Dortmund coach.
Mario Götze didn't play in the first six Bundesliga games under Lucien Favre, but as the season has progressed, the offensive midfielder has been handed regular playing time by the Swiss coach.

Speaking to DAZN and Spox, Götze admits he found it tough at the beginning of the season, but the 26-year-old feels he has risen in Favre's estimation.

"I think we needed a certain amount of time. It was a bit more difficult at the beginning. I had to get used to his idea, philosophy and demands. I've tried to show him that I can and want to do so," Götze explained and continued:

"I can't read his thoughts, but at the end of the first half of the season, I had the feeling that he recognised that. This has reflected on my playing time. I think I can add something of value to the team and that the coach appreciates this."

Götze has made 20 appearances this season with three goals and four assists to his name.
