"I haven't seen a German player in the last six months who's better than him," Witsel said in an interview with Sportbuzzer and continued:
"Marco has scored 17 goals and made 11 assists for us. He's one of our most important players, and we are top of the Bundesliga."
Witsel was also asked to compare the German Bundesliga with the English Premier League - and the midfielder doesn't feel there's too much of a difference in quality.
"It's all about media hype. Many more people around the world watch the Premier League on TV, because it can be watched almost everywhere. But I don't see any serious difference in terms of the quality of the football," Witsel said.
Axel Witsel and his teammates must manage without Marco Reus when they face Tottenham in the Champions League tonight as the BVB captain is currently sidelined with an injury.
