Report: Chelsea ready to make Jovic bid

Chelsea are said to have joined the race for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic who has also drawn interest from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Chelsea are ready to table a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt's Luka Jovic, who has also been linked with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, Bild understands.

Reportedly, 'The Blues' are willing to offer €45 million for Jovic. The Serbian striker is considered the number one option to replace Olivier Giroud who's out of contract in the summer.

Jovic is currently on loan from Benfica, but Frankfurt boss Bruno Hübner said in October that Frankfurt intend to take advantage of a purchase option to sign him on a permanent deal.

Bild further reports that Jovic's agent, Fali Ramadani, has discussed possible future scenarios with Frankfurt boss Fredi Bobic. Nothing has been decided yet.

Barcelona are also in contact with Ramadani and have made it clear that they're interested in Jovic who was scouted by club scout Goran Vucevic.

The Catalan club have already landed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax in a €75 million deal and want to land his teammate Matthijs de Ligt, who is valued at €65 million, as well. Due to UEFA's Financial Fair Play Regulations, Barcelona will not be able to pay more than €50 million for Jovic, according to Bild.

Therefore, Barcelona have reportedly identified two other options for the striker position - Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas, who would be available on a free transfer, and Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette.

Asked about the reported interest in him, Jovic told Sportbuzzer:

"I'm honored, of course, that such big clubs are interested in me. I'm happy here in Frankfurt at the moment, and I feel well here. I'm only focusing on Eintracht Frankfurt right now. That's my top priority."
