Report: Bayern target Hertha's Niklas Stark

Bayern München are said to be interested in Hertha BSC's Niklas Stark.
Hertha BSC's Niklas Stark has attracted interest from Bayern München, Sport1 understands.

According to the German news outlet, the centre-back is seen as an alternative to Atletico Madrid's Lucas Hernandez whom the Bavarians have been linked heavily with.

Stark himself claims he knows nothing about the reported interest from Bayern.

"It's not in my hands. It's up to others to judge that," Stark told Sport1 and continued:

"Just to be associated with that, although I don't believe it, is something very big. But there's nothing to it, and it's not my job to make connections. I'm not at Hertha, I'm playing at Hertha this season, we have a lot going on, and that's where my focus is."

Meanwhile, Herta sporting director Michael Preetz says he can't rule out that Stark's name is on Bayern's shortlist.

"I can't say. You'll have to ask Bayern about that," he said.

Stark, 23, has played for Hertha since 2015.
