Sebastian Rudy has called for the Schalke 04 fans to change their attitude after he was booed off the pitch during Saturday's 0-1 defeat to RB Leipzig at Veltins-Arena.

The Schalke fans showed their disappointment as Huub Stevens lost his first game as interim coach following the sacking of Domenico Tedesco.

'The Royal Blues' are now sitting 15th after having suffered four Bundesliga defeats in a row, and Rudy says the team need the support of the fans to get out of the mess they're in.

"I think the fans should always try to spur the team on, no matter what," Rudy told Sportbuzzer and added:

"It's not pretty, no question. But in order to get away from the lower end of the table, we need every single fan to support us."

"I don't think that we're letting ourselves down. We're giving everything. It would be nice if they were completely behind us in the future," the Schalke midfielder said.

After the upcoming international break, Schalke will face another struggling team - Hannover 96 - in their next match on March 31.
