The swiss goalkeeper had a difficult 2017/18 season, but has been an important part of Dortmund's success story this term.
"When we go through a difficult phase in a game, it's good to have that kind of safety at the back. Roman has made excellent progress," Zorc told Sport Bild and added:
"He has matured even more and has become more self-assertive. It wasn't easy for him last season. Just like the rest of the team, he was infected by the uncerainty."
Bürki, 28, joined Dortmund from Freiburg in 2015.
