Glasner, the current coach of Austrian side LASK Linz, has signed a contract until 2022 and will succeed Bruno Labbadia who will part company with Wolfsburg at the end of the season.
"The switch to the Bundesliga is a big challenge which I'm very happy about and which I like very much. During the talks with Jörg Schmadtke (Wolfsburg's head of sport) and Marcel Schäfer (Wolfsburg's sporting director), we quickly realized that we have the same idea of how we can and want to play successful and attractive football with VfL in the coming years," the Austrian coach told Wolfsburg's website.
VfL Wolfsburg head of sport Jörg Schmadtke said:
"We have been dealing with Oliver Glasner for some time and have followed his impressive work in Linz closely. The conversations with him have confirmed the positive impressions of him that we had before and gave us the confident feeling that he's the right choice to tackle the next phase of the development at VfL Wolfsburg."
Glasner, 44, has worked as the coach of LASK Linz since 2015.
