Volland doesn't expect to play for Germany again: 'I'm a realist'

Kevin Volland isn't expecting to be called up for the national team again.
Bayer Leverkusen star Kevin Volland says he has come to terms with the fact that he probably won't play for Germany again.

Volland, who has repesented 'Die Mannschaft' 10 times, hasn't been in Germany coach Joachim Löw's squad since November 2016, and he has gradually lost hope that he'll ever get called up again.

"I'm a realist in regard to this question. I haven't been there since November 2016," Volland told Kicker and added:

"Last season, I had a good run and a constant year, scoring 14 goals. And the same has happened this year. At some point, you stop thinking too much about whether you get called up or not."

Volland, 26, joined Leverkusen from Hoffenheim in 2016.
