Title race excitement remains intact while Nürnberg and Hannover are relegated

The race for the Bundesliga title is still on ahead of this season's final matchday next week. Meanwhile, FC Nürnberg and Hannover 96 are relegated.
Saturday's Bundesliga results means Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund still have everything to play for in the battle for the championship title .

Bayern München needed a win away from home against RB Leipzig to secure the Bundesliga title, but were held to a draw in a close game.

The Bavarians thought they had scored after 50 minutes, but Leon Goretzka's goal was ruled out after VAR deemed that Robert Lewandowski was offisde in the build-up. Bayern came close to scoring the winner towards the end, but ultimately had to settle for a draw.

At Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund grabbed a vital 3-2 victory over Fortuna Düsseldorf who missed a penalty and had Adam Bodzek sent off.

Dortmund are now two points behind Bayern München at the top of the table ahead of the final matchday of the season. On Saturday next week, Bayern lock horns with Eintracht Frankfurt at home while BVB face Gladbach away from home.

Looking at the bottom of the table, FC Nürnberg and Hannover 96 are now certain to be relegated. While Nürnberg lost 0-4 to Gladbach, Hannover defeated Freiburg 3-0, but can't catch up with 16th-placed Stuttgart who beat Wolfsburg 3-0 to ensure that they avoid direct relegation.

Instead, Stuttgart are set to play two play-off games against the team that end up third in the 2. Bundesliga.
