Schneider: Schalke faced competition for David Wagner's signature
Schalke 04 saw off plenty of competition for the signature of David Wagner, says the club's head of sport, Jochen Schneider.
Schalke 04 recently announced that David Wagner will take over the position as the club's coach at the end of the season.

And 'The Royal Blues' certainly weren't the only club interested in hiring the former Huddersfield Town manager, according to Schalke head of sport Jochen Schneider.
"I know that there was competition from the Bundesliga and even more from England," Schneider told Kicker and added:
"That he won promotion to the Premier League with Huddersfield Town and that he managed to stay in the league with them in particular has made him a highly coveted coach in England.
"I have many contacts in England and know how highly they rate David. But I quite early on got the impression that Schalke 04 appealed the most to him," Schneider said.
Schalke sacked Domenico Tedesco in March, with Huub Stevens taking over the job as coach on an interim basis until the end of the season.
