Hertha sign Boyata and extend four contracts

Hertha BSC have announced their first summer signing. Meanwhile, four players have signed new contracts with the club.
Hertha BSC have made two announcements: Dedryck Boyata will join the club from Celtic, and four players have extended their contracts.

Boyata - a 28-year-old centre-back - will make the move to Berlin and has signed a long-term contract with Hertha.

"We have been tracking Dedryck for a while and are fully convinced of his quality. We are sure that he will strengthen our defence," said Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz.

Meanwhile, the club have also announced that their captain, Vedad Ibisevic, has put pen to paper on a one-year extension. The 34-year-old initially joined Hertha on loan from Stuttgart in 2015 before completing a permanent move to the German capital club.

Maximilian Mittelstädt, Dennis Jastrzembski, Florian Baak have all signed new contracts as well.
