Bayern München must be careful not to make the same mistakes as they did in last year's DFB-Pokal final, says Uli Hoeness.
Bayern München president Uli Hoeness has warned against complacency ahead of Saturday's DFB-Pokal final against RB Leipzig.
The Bavarians suffered a 1-3 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in last year's final and must now avoid making the same mistakes, says Hoeness.
"We have to be careful not to let up a bit like last year when we became champions. After that, we put in a weak performance against Frankfurt. There wasn't much left in the tank for us," the Bayern boss told Bild,
Unlike last year, Bayern didn't secure the Bundesliga title until the matchday, so the Bavarians have had no time to take their foot off the gas - and Hoeness feels that's an advantage.
"The fact that we had to work and fight to the last minute this time is a good sign."
Niko Kovac was the man who led Frankfurt to DFB-Pokal glory last year, so he certainly knows what being in the final means.
"We know that Leipzig have a great team. Last year, I was allowed to experience what it means to be in the final. You shouldn't underestimate anyone. We are champions, but Leipzig are a very good third place. This will be a game of bending and breaking. I expects a close result," he said.
The game will be played on Saturday at 20:00 CEST.
