Effenberg: Kovac is the coach of the season

Stefan Effenberg has lauded praise on Niko Kovac whom he believes has been the best coach in the Bundesliga this season.
Former German international Stefan Effenberg believes Niko Kovac has been the coach of the season in the Bundesliga.

Kovac arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt to take over the job as Bayern München coach last summer, and Effenberg is very impressed with the 47-year-old's first season at Allianz Arena.

"Kovac is the coach of the season for me," Effenberg wrote in a column for t-online.de.

"[He] had to begin a transition at Bayern, replace the long-term injured players and let Robben and Ribery know that they would no longer be regular starters. He managed to do that with perfection and took home the championship title in the end," Effenberg stated.

Effenberg also highlighted two other coaches - Fortuna Düsseldorf's Friedhelm Funkel and VfL Wolfsburg's Bruno Labbadia - who both 'did an outstanding job', according to the 50-year-old.
