Sebastian Rudy fired up to prove himself at Schalke next season

Sebastian Rudy is determined to vastly improve his performances at Schalke 04 next season.
Sebastian Rudy has struggled to live up to the expectations at Schalke 04 following his €16 million move from Bayern München last summer.

In an interview with Goal and Spox, the 29-year-old reflects on his disappointing season and says he's fired up to improve next season.

"I didn't show what I can do. That's why I'm disappointed with my personal performances. From now on, I will take things a little differently and try to show what makes me strong. I want to prove to my critics wrong, I can do it better - this thought motivates me immensely, the midfielder said.

Rudy admits that he found it much harder than expected to adjust to Schalke's playing style after his move from Bayern.

"I underestimated the differences between the clubs. It took me a long time to get used to the Schalke game, which made my time at the start very difficult. That will certainly not happen to me again," Rudy said and added:

"Fans and clubs rightly expect a lot from me and can expect a lot in the future as well. I know what I can bring to the team and I will show it next season."

Rudy made 28 appearances for Schalke during the 2018/19 season.
