RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick says he has 'talked intensively' with Timo Werner's agent, Karl-Heinz Förster, about the future of the striker.
Werner, whose deal with RB Leipzig runs until 2020, has been stalling on a contract extension and has been told he will be sold this summer if he doesn't want to put pen to paper on a new deal.
When Werner joined RB Leipzig from VfB Stuttgart in 2016, Rangnick apparently told the striker initially that he would be allowed to leave in the future in case he got the feeling that he needed to take the next step.
"Like all other players, I told him when we got him, "If you develop faster than we do, or you get the feeling that you do, we will not prevent you from taking the next step," Rangnick said in an interview with Sport1.
When asked if that is the case now or if he has tried to warn Werner against leaving Red Bull Arena, Rangnick responded:
"I didn't talk to Timo, but I talked intensively with his agent, Karl-Heinz Förster, because I've known him for a long time. He knows our opinion on the subject."
Werner has been linked with Bayern München and Liverpool among others.
