Borussia Dortmund to discuss a new contract with Götze after the summer break

BVB boss Michael Zorc says he plans to hold talks with Mario Götze over a new contract after the summer break and comments on Arsenal's reported interest in the 27-year-old.
Mario Götze has recently been linked with a move to Arsenal, but Borussia Dortmund want to hold on to the 27-year-old.

The offensive midfielder's contract is due to run out in 2020, but BVB want to talk to him about a new deal at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, says the club's sporting director, Michael Zorc.

"We have heard rumors from England for years. As always, we're very relaxed, because we're in good communication with Mario's father and his agent," Zorc told Sport Bild and added:

"Mario Götze hasn't approached us with a wish to leave.

"We will sit down together at the beginning of the new season," Zorc said.

According to Sport Bild, Götze will most likely be offered a contract of three or four years. Reportedly, he earns as much as €10 million annually. This could be a sticking point, because he may have to lower his wage demands.

Götze made 34 appearances with seven goals and seven assists to his name during the 2018/19 season.
