Zorc: Hummels is the best German centre-back
BVB boss Michael Zorc has singled out Mats Hummels as the best German centre-back.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc says he believes Mats Hummels is the best German central defender.
BVB have reached an agreement to re-sign the centre-back subject to a medical, and Zorc is confident that the 30-year-old will be a big reinforcement.
"We believe that Mats can give us a clear boost sportingly," Zorc said in an interview with Bild and added:
"He's the best German centre-back for me, and that's exactly why we have signed him. He has extraordinary skills."
Hummels is set to become Dortmund's fourth summer arrival following the signings of Julian Brandt, Nico Schulz and Thorgan Hazard.
Asked if BVB plan to make further signings, Zorc said:
"We feel very comfortable with the squad, but keep our eyes open in case we get the possibility of optimizing it further. Something will certainly happen in regard to departures."
