Benito Raman puts pressure on Fortuna: 'I want to play for Schalke!'

Fortuna Düsseldorf star Benito Raman has urged his club to let him join Schalke 04.
Benito Raman has made it clear that he wants to leave Fortuna Düsseldorf to join Schalke 04.

Schalke are reportedly willing to pay €10 million for Raman and include Bernard Tekpetey in the deal. Fortuna Düsseldorf demand more than that, but the 24-year-old has now asked his club to let him leave.

"I want to play for Schalke. Nothing or nobody can change that. The transfer would completely change my career. I can sign a five-year deal and secure the future of my family. So my decision has been made, and I want to undergo a medical there on Friday," Raman told Het Nieuwsblad and added:

"Two years ago, they were able to get me for a reasonable amount of money, and now they can sell me with a profit of €9 million.

"I respect the club very much, but it's time to let me go," he said.

Raman scored 11 goals and made five assists in 32 appearances for Fortuna Düsseldorf during the 2018/19 season.
