Kovac apologizes for Sané comments

Niko Kovac has said sorry for his recent comments about Leroy Sané.
Bayern München coach Niko Kovac says he has apologized to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for his statement about Leroy Sané.

Kovac publicly said that he was 'confident' that Bayern will be able to sign the Manchester City winger, and he now admits that his comments were 'too offensive'.

"I called Pep and apologized to him. I know that Sané is under contract with Manchester City. I also want to apologize to the club. Next time, I'll hold back," Kovac told ZDF after Bayern's 6-1 Audi Cup win over Fenerbahce on Tuesday.

Before the game, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that he wasn't too happy with Kovac's comments about Sané.

"I didn't like the statement. I make no secret of that. We have a very good relationship with Manchester City," Rummenigge told ZDF and added:

"We have to respect the players who are under contract with other clubs. That's also a FIFA guideline, by the way.

"We're working on transfers, but we'll have to wait and see what happens at the end of the day. We will all have some patience. Neither optimistic nor pessimistic statements will help us," he underlined.
