Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are in the race for the signature of Alexander Nübel, who could leave Schalke 04 on a free transfer in 2020, according to Sport Bild.
The 22-year-old has also been linked with clubs outside of Germany such as Atlético Madrid, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain, but a move abroad is currently not in question for the highly-rated goalkeeper, as per the report.
Schalke are fighting to keep Nübel and have made it clear that they plan to hold on to him this summer.
"He's a goalkeeper who is in demand. We will do what we can to keep him," Schalke boss Clemens Tönnies told Sport Bild.
'The Royal Blues' have offered Nübel a contract extension until 2023 or 2024 which would increase his annual salary from around €600.000 to a fee closer to €3 million.
But the 22-year-old is stalling on a new deal and currently tends towards leaving Schalke next year, as per Sport Bild.
With Bayern, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund all interested, he's in great demand and would be able to negotiate a lucrative sign-on bonus.
RB Leipzig were reportedly willing to pay €15 million to sign Nübel this summer, but the goalkeeper didn't want to leave Schalke at this point, At the same time, the club are obviously trying to hold on to him.
Until now, Nübel has made 24 appearances for Schalke 04.
