Dortmund thrash Augsburg, Leverkusen beat Paderborn in goal fest

Borussia Dortmund started off the 2019/20 season with a clear 5-1 win over Augsburg. Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen narrowly beat newly-promoted SC Paderborn in a highly entertaining match.
Borussia Dortmund were trailing with under one minute played of their Bundesliga opener against FC Augsburg, but came back to take a crushing 5-1 win at Signal Iduna Park.

Florian Niederlechner gave Augsburg a surprising early lead as he scored in his Bundesliga debut for 'Die Függerstädter', but Paco Alcacer only needed a few minutes to equalize for the home side.

BVB created plenty of chances through the first half, but didn't make it 2-1 until the beginning of the second half when Jadon Sancho scored.

Shortly after, BVB captain Marco Reus added further to the lead before Paco Alcacer smashed home his second goal of the game after he was set up by Sancho.

Towards the end, Julian Brandt came on to score his first goal for Dortmund as he made it 5-1.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted SC Paderborn didn't give Bayer Leverkusen an easy time at BayArena where the score was 2-2 at the break after an entertaining first half with plenty of chances for both teams. Kevin Volland eventually made it 3-2 midway through the second half to earn 'Die Werkself' a narrow win.

Elsewhere, Werder Bremen lost 1-3 to Fortuna Düsseldorf, Freiburg beat Mainz 3-0 while Wolfsburg took a 2-1 win over FC Köln.
