Bayer Leverkusen have targeted Liverpool's Dejan Lovren as 'Die Werkself' search for a new centre-back, according to Sport Bild.

Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz wants to strengthen his central defence before the transfer window closes and sees the 30-year-old Liverpool player as a potential option.

The Bundesliga side are hoping it will be possible to take Lovren on loan for a fee of €3 million, as per the report.

Apparently, Leverkusen see SC Freiburg's Dominique Heintz as a possible alternative. The 26-year-old joined Freiburg from FC Köln for €3 million in 2018 and is under contract until 2022.
