Jorge Mere turned down interest from Atlético Madrid and Ajax to stay at FC Köln, according to Bild.

Speaking with the German news outlet, the 22-year-old says he's flattered about the interest, but makes it clear he still has plans at the newly-promoted Bundesliga side.

"I'm happy about it, of course. It's an acknowledgement, and it shows that I'm on the right track. But my mission here isn't finished yet," Mere said and added:

"It's important for me to play with FC Köln in the Bundesliga, to show what I can do here and establish Köln in this league."

FC Köln paid €7 million to sign Mere from Sporting Gijón in 2017.
