Official: Sokratis joins Arsenal
Arsenal have officially signed Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos will leave Borussia Dortmund to join Arsenal, the two sides have confirmed.
Arsenal have announced that the 30-year-old central defender has joined the club on a long-term deal for an undisclosed fee.
"I feel very good. It’s my first day here, everything is special. It’s a beautiful moment and I’m very happy that I will be here for the next years," Sokratis told arsenal.com and added:
"Arsenal is one of the three biggest teams in the Premier League and one very big club. It has a lot of fans and a very big history. Like I said before, I’m very happy that for the next years I will be here to help the team."
The reported transfer fee is €16 million. Sokratis joined Borussia Dortmund from Werder Bremen in 2013 and made 198 appearances for the German side.
