Manuel Baum believes Augsburg should stay up

Augsburg should be able to stay up this season, according to their former coach Manuel Baum.
FC Augsburg haven't had the best start to the season and are in 16th place with one point after three games.

But their squad is certainly good enough to avoid relegation, says their former coach Manuel Baum.

Asked if Augsburg should be able to stay up, Baum told Sport Bild:

"Yes, they should. FCA recently reinforced with the signings of [Stephan] Lichtsteiner, [Tin] Jedvaj and [Felix] Uduokhai."

"It's also good for the club that the transfer window has closed, because some players were certainly thinking about leaving. If these players fully concentrate on playing for Augsburg again, that's helpful.

"The quality of the squad alone should be enough for the 15th place at least," Baum said.

Baum was sacked as Augsburg coach in April and now works as a coach for Germany's under-20 national team.
