Friedhelm Funkel: 'I can't say if this will be my last Bundesliga season'

Friedhelm Funkel says it's still open if he will continue working as a coach beyond this season.
Fortuna Düsseldorf coach Friedhelm Funkel says he doesn't know if he will retire at the end of the season.

The 65-year-old doesn't want to think about retiring as long as he enjoys his job at Merkur Spiel-Arena.

"I can't say if this will be my last Bundesliga season. What I can say is that Fortuna will be my last club as a coach. But I can't and don't want to say when I will quit as a coach at the moment. As long as I enjoy it and we're successful, I won't say that I'm going to retire at the end of the season," Funkel told Spox.

Funkel, who was appointed Fortuna Düsseldorf coach in 2016, led the club to an impressive 10th-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.
