Ilkay Gündogan reveals Pep Guardiola tried to bring him to Bayern München from Borussia Dortmund in the past.
The transfer never happened, though, and Guardiola instead ended up bringing him to Manchester City in 2016.
"Today, I can say openly that there were talks with Bayern München once, but we didn't get together for different reasons," Gündogan told SZ.
Gündogan extended his contract with Manchester City until 2023 in the summer and feels extremely well at the English Premier League club.
"I'm very happy at Man City. I don't think there is a club, where I would be better off at the moment, and I don't believe I would be better off with any other coach either," he said.
The midfielder has made 34 appearances for the German national team, scoring five goals.
