Schalke boss hopeful that good results will make Alex Nübel stay
Schalke 04 boss Sascha Riether believes the club's good start to the season could make Alexander Nübel more likely to extend his contract.
Alexander Nübel has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern München on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, but Schalke 04 are still hoping they can convince the 23-year-old to sign a new deal.

After a terrible 2018/19 campaign, Schalke have made a strong start to the new season, and the club's coordinator of the licensed players department, Sascha Riether, believes the recent good results could influence Nübel's decision.
"The good results may mean that he sees his future with us after all, because he has noticed that a lot has changed, and things are moving in the right direction again here," Riether told Sport Bild.
Nübel himself insists that he hasn't made a decision yet and is pleased that the club will give him time to consider his future.
"This is not an easy decision. I'm grateful that the club will give me all the time I need to think about it," Nübel said.
The highly-rated goalkeeper has been linked with a handful of clubs from abroad such as Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid and Manchester United, but he sees his future in Germany, as per Sport Bild.
The 23-year-old has reportedly rejected a move to RB Leipzig, and Bayern München are now said to be leading the race for his signature, with Dortmund also reportedly interested in acquiring his services.
According to Sport Bild, Schalke have offered Nübel a new deal until 2024 that would increase his annual salary from €600,000 to €5 million. 'The Royal Blues' are willing to let the new deal include a release clause of around €10-20 million which would come into effect in 2021.
Nübel, who was appointed Schalke captain in the summer, has made 32 appearances for the club.
