Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke reveals he asked Jürgen Klopp if he wanted to return to BVB in 2018.

Watzke had little hope that Klopp would say yes, but still wanted to ask the Liverpool manager if he could imagine returning to his former employer.

"We had to take a new path at BVB back then, so I felt that I had to at least ask Jürgen whether it was something he could possibly imagine," Watzke says in his book 'Echte Liebe. Ein Leben mit dem BVB', according to Bild.

"But I knew that he would turn down the offer and that he would fulfill his contract in Liverpool. Jürgen has always fulfilled his contracts. That's how he is," the BVB boss says.

Klopp was the coach of Dortmund from 2008 to 2015. His contract with Liverpool runs until 2022.
