Lothar Matthäus: Signing Christian Eriksen 'wouldn't make sense' for Bayern

Lothar Matthäus would be surprised to see Christian Eriksen join Bayern München.
Former German international Lothar Matthäus has advised Bayern München against signing Christian Eriksen from Tottenham.

The Danish international, who's out of contract in the summer, has been linked with a move to Munich, but Matthäus would be surprised to see him come to Allianz Arena.

"I have been following the player for a long time, and he has disappointed me so far in 2019. A transfer to FC Bayern wouldn't make sense to me and would be very surprising. Even if he's available on a free transfer. For me, he's not a player who can help Bayern," Matthäus told Sport1 and added:

"If he's not good enough for Tottenham, he's not good enough for Bayern either. [Bayern München president] Uli Hoeness has already said that the Bavarians don't need substitutes."

Eriksen, 27, has played for Tottenham since 2013 when he joined the club from Ajax.
