Steffen Freund urges Joachim Löw to bring back Mats Hummels

Germany coach Joachim Löw should bring back Mats Hummels now that Niklas Süle is out with a long-term injury, argues Steffen Freund.
Steffen Freund says he will be 'hugely disappointed' if Germany coach Joachim Löw doesn't start calling up Mats Hummels for the national team again.

Back in March, Löw informed Hummels that he was no longer in his plans, and the Germany coach recently said that recalling Hummels is 'not a topic at the moment'.

Nevertheless, Freund feels the experienced centre-back should return to the squad following Niklas Süle's long-term injury.

"If 'Jogi' Löw doesn't bring him back, I'll be hugely disappointed," Freund told RTL and added:

"We won't win the European Championship with [Antonio] Rüdiger and [Matthias] Ginter.

"I already said a year ago that Mats Hummels is our best centre-back and that he will return to the national team," Freund said.

Hummels, 30, has made 70 appearances for 'Die Mannschaft'.
