Jerome Boateng was shown an early red card as Bayern München were thrashed 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt at Commerzbank-Arena.
The experienced centre-back saw red after just nine minutes after he brought down Goncalo Paciencia in a dangerous position.
Frankfurt went ahead through Filip Kostic after 25 minutes and doubled their lead eight minutes later when Djibril Sow made it 2-0.
Robert Lewandowski pulled one back for the guests before the break, but Frankfurt made sure to kill the game off in the second half, with David Abraham, Martin Hinteregger and Goncalo Paciencia getting on the scoresheet as well.
Elsewhere, league leaders Borussia Mönchengladbach beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1, Werder Bremen drew 2-2 with Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund defeated Wolfsburg 3-0 while RB Leipzig took a crushing 8-0 win over Mainz.
