Marco Rose: Denis Zakaria needed a break

Gladbach coach Marco Rose gave Denis Zakaria a rest against Bayer Leverkusen.
Gladbach boss Marco Rose says that he decided to put Denis Zakaria on the bench for Saturday's 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen, because the midfielder needed a break.

"We decided together that it didn't make sense for him to play from the start this time," Rose said in an interview with Rheinische Post.

"You could tell that he was tired and needed a break," he added.

Zakaria, who had played every minute for Gladbach this season prior to Saturday's game, eventually came on with around 20 minutes left to play.
